1965 FORD FALCON XP
AND FALCON BA

Graham Wilson - Orbost, Victoria, Australia

G'day American Falcon nuts from an Australian Falcon nut,

I saw your webpage about a 1965 XP Aussie Falcon.  I too have a 1965 XP Deluxe with 200cid engine and Borg-Warner Type 35 transmission.

Graham reports that the XP’s Super Pursuit engine is entirely original except for the extra starter relay (left) and upper cylinder lube system (right) to enable it to run on unleaded petrol (gasoline to us!).

Here's the XP from the Driver's seat.  The wheel and cluster look like a combination of American Falcon and Comet parts.

I also have a BA Futura.  Yes---they resurrected that name for the slightly spiffified Falcons.

Graham’s BA Futura (click on links above)

That body shape is still current with refined mechanicals as the BF.  It has an Australian designed "Barra" engine, 4 litres (don't ask me what that is in cubic inches!) straight six with drive-by-wire throttle, variable timed DOHC, 4 valves per cylinder, variable length inlet manifolds, and coil-on-plug ignition.  It's an absolute beauty!

No doubt you've already checked out the detailed Wikipedia articles on Australia Falcons and the Barra engine...

Looks like we’re going to Wikipedia!  Thank you for the articles and the photos.   We’re a bit envious that your local Ford dealers still have Falcons and Futuras.
