Attached are a couple pics of my 65 Comet which my wife and I bought from the original owner earlier this year.   I added the wheels and tires and gave the front a little bit of a rake.

The original owners affectionately named the car Nellie. My wife and I decided to adopt the name.  I found the vanity plate Nelli65 available through the DMV.  Nellie did not come with the orginal black plates (which I would have kept) as the owners also had their own vanity plate.

Anyway the great condition of the car is owed entirely to the original owners.  The car is all original, has the A-code 289 (VIN verified), 4-spd manual toploader (rare from what I understand), and factory tach on the dash, bucket seats, manual brakes and steering, and 114k original miles. This California car was bought originally in Fremont on June 7th, 1965.

I live in Santa Cruz and I'm learning as much about the car as possible.

John Devlin

That’s a great looking Comet!  Congratulations on finding such an outstanding Comet.  It is one beautiful car and looks right at home in Santa Cruz.  That was a nice choice for the wheels and I'm sure your Caliente gets compliments wherever you go!  AA---11/09
