THE SONOMA COUNTY FALCONS FOR FUN!!!
CHAPTER OF THE FCA

1966 FORD FALCON XP WAGON
Joel Becus - Queensland, Australia

Hey guys,

This is my XP that my dad and I spent about 8 months doing.  I had the car for 2 years prior to the restoration and pretty much drove the thing into the ground.  The only reason I stopped driving it was because it was defective and taken off the road by the police.  After that, I stripped it bare windows, doors, rubbers, and seats guards.

Joel and his Falcon XP are ready to go!

There was nothing left on this thing except wheels and a steering column.  I bought another falcon for $1,500 and it had all the beautiful jewelry on it.  I stripped all that off and most of it was rechromed.  All of the seats were re-upholstered and a new carpet and headliner were installed.

There’s a familiar sight---the simple and dependable six!

I pulled the motor out with a couple of mates.  We really had no idea what we were doing, but it wasn’t that hard in the end.  Over the next few months, my dad spent every weekend and spare afternoon doing the bodywork.  He works for the council and has no idea what was going on too, but he somehow finished the product (with a lot of advice) and the finished product that has no runs and a magnificent shine.  My hat definitely goes off to him!

For a couple of guys that supposedly did not know what they were doing, you sure ended up with a nice final product…a great looking wagon!

With all new seals and window rubbers, the car pretty much fully sealed from the weather.  With $1,700 spent on suspension and exhaust system, it rides and sounds very nice really nicely too.

HOPE YOU ENJOY! - Joel Becus

PS:  I would also like to say a big thanks to my father for all the efforts he put into this vehicle. without him keeping me motivated the old XP would probably still be in a thousand pieces.
