THE SONOMA COUNTY FALCONS FOR FUN CHAPTER

WAYNE YEAGER'S 1963 F0RD FALCON RANCHERO

Photos and Article by Al Aiello

Wayne Yeager likes 1960-1963 Falcons. Awhile back, I was able to visit with Wayne at his home and garage. He certainly has some interesting vehicles, and he has a great place to work on his toys.

The Yeager's (Wayne & Joanne) 63 Falcon Ranchero

Wayne purchased his 63 Ranchero about 4 years ago. When he purchased the Ranchero, it was minus the engine and transmission. Bill Johns (another SCFF member) told Wayne where a 63 Falcon Station Wagon was located in Northern California. So, Wayne contacted Alan Burford (another SCFF member) about accompanying him on a journey up north to haul the wagon back to Sonoma County.

Alan hitched up his Ranchero and they were off to Trinidad. Wayne reports that it rained during that entire trip except when they got out to load the wagon on the trailer, and when they stopped for lunch! It was a pretty site--A Ranchero towing a Falcon Wagon!

Wayne has done most of the mechanical work on the Ranchero. He installed the 260 V-8 and the 3-speed manual transmission from the donor wagon. The interior, body, and paint work was completed last summer. The Ranchero is quite stunning to the eyes with its black on black color scheme--black exterior and black interior. Wayne had a number of interior trim items chromed which contrast nicely with the black paint.

The Ranchero does not see too much garage time. Wayne drives his Ranchero on a regular basis. Wayne can be seen around town in his super cool Ranchero--on the way to and from work, or running an errand--Way to go Wayne!
