THE SONOMA COUNTY FALCONS FOR FUN CHAPTER
I bought my 65 Squire in November of 2000 with the desire of building it into a respectable and dependable daily driver. I had no thought of attempting to restore it to the original, and had no qualms about replacing a difficult to get or expensive part with a part from any year or model car that would work. In some cases I even fabricated parts.
The car was kept stock. Being thrifty, I repaired an item rather than replacing it. To keep costs down, no unneeded parts were added (headers, dual exhaust pipes, shift kits, etc). I did all the work myself (with the exception of upholstering the front seat) .
It took me two years to
complete and was a fun project. However, if I were to rebuild another car, the one thing I
would probably have done by a professional is the headliner. When you do one every twenty
years, and a professional does two a day, the results of experience become obvious.
