THE SONOMA COUNTY FALCONS FOR FUN CHAPTER

Article by Nancy Cozine, SCFF Treasurer

On December 19th 1999, several members of the Chapter cruised to Sonoma to deliver the Christmas presents to the children we had drawn names for from our ‘Falcon Family’ Giving Tree. Before delivering the gifts, we met at Rob’s Rib Shack for a great lunch followed by a ‘family’ photo session in the parking lot.

From Rob’s, we cruised a short distance to the Teen Center in Boyes Hot Springs where the party was to be held. Although the person in charge of opening up the facility failed to arrive, we were able to have our party on the patio thanks to a wonderful sunny afternoon.

‘Santa’ passed out presents not only to those we had bought gifts for, but to many other children we had not anticipated since several of our members had brought along extra gifts.

The highlight of the day was provided by a charming 6 year old girl named Jessica. She not only sang to us, but she touched our hearts as well.

To those of you who were able to be there, I’m sure you were blessed. To those of you who were not, I hope you will make it a priority next year so that you may be. To me, this is what Christmas is all about—sharing, caring, and bringing a little Christmas into a child’s life.

Next year this event promises to be even bigger and better since it will be held at the La Luz Center in Sonoma. The Center was unavailable this year due to remodeling.

Thanks to all of you who participated in this annual club event, and a special thank you to ‘Santa’ (Butch Guillen) who did a great job! I hope we can talk him into doing it again next year and for years to come.
